we Are...

...the Montgomery County Partners
For Animal Well-Being

The dedicated non-profit partner of the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC). As an essential community resource, we help educate, advocate, and take action on the healthy treatment and well being of animals inside and outside MCASAC.

Our mission is to provide resources and support to benefit the animals in residence. We work to identify and influence the main reasons that animals end up in shelters and assist residents affected by animals in Montgomery County.
— MCPAW Mission Statement

MCPAW is proud of its acceptance as a Network Partner in the No More Homeless Pets® Network of Best Friends Animal Society. The No More Homeless Pets Network is comprised of select public charity rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations and shelters that are actively saving lives and reducing shelter deaths locally.

MCPAW was selected as the 2013 Potomac Charity of the Year by the Potomac Chamber of Commerce. MCPAW was recognized for its dedication to providing needed funds for the new Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center.

Key Facts

  • The MCASAC is run by the Montgomery County Police Department and houses the Police Department’s Animal Services Division. These officers work hard to protect the animals of the county, fielding more than 13,000 calls each year on a range of issues.
  • The MCASAC is staffed by a group of animal care professionals who utilize best practices to care for all of the animals in the facility. The dedicated staff work as a team to turn each of those animals into a pet with a forever home.
